It was now dark, moonlight filtering in from among the trees leafs it was as if one was seeing the sun at midnight, its beautiful you know she(fairy) said you just have to open your eyes to see it. He turns, his body heating up but his eyes won't just open. Disappointed, she turns away i would get help tomorrow please God let him just last the night. it was getting cold, dew was beginning to fall, she knew this night was gonna be long, the tree leafs as if on command falling to cover both of us, the animals of the forest surrounding us as if to show a sign of respect, her head still bowed even with dozens of butterfly flying around, she was in so much pain her feeling for the boy had escalated overnight and that was the one thing she didn't want to believe what she strove to believe was that she would nurse the boy back to health then take him back so that he would face punishment for his action. unable to bear looking at him again, her mind became a battlefield of thoughts, i was only able to stop the bleeding, maybe if i had gone further, maybe if the kids had.......... suddenly pausing at the hearing of an unfamiliar sound it was different from the ones the animals near her were making, lifting her head she saw a horse and a rider, letting out a shout of joy but suddenly reducing her voice wondering its too late for humans to be wandering about, except they are looking for something. she had seen the horse rush towards her, she had seen the animals disperse, she had seen the caught off guard rider climb down the horse and lift the boy and her joy knew no bounds for at the end help had come, though knowing that the horse ride did put a strain on him.
In my sleep i felt the hand, waking, i tried to move away but my body won't move. Feeling her bosom as she lifted me up to an animal, it was hard to say which? Then her climbing stealthily behind. Losing consciousness as the animal galloped, regaining consciousness i forcibly kept my eyes open i just want to see her face it must have put too much a strain on me because the next time i opened my eyes i was in a room on some table, staring at some face peering down at me, the calmness on the face disappearing and being replaced by fright & then shock. Smiling as i was beginning to lose consciousness again i saw her face stupid! stupid! To what did that matter.
The old woman could have swore that his eyes just moved, but that wasn't her concern the weary face of the boy showed he had lost a lot of blood. She could still remember the shock she had when she had lighted the lantern and had seen the boy's face, he was the boy she thought was playing possum though her gut told her otherwise he must have been bleeding out for a while. Bringing him home instead of taking him to the hospital seemed like a bad idea now, her medicine chest was on the table it had almost everything needed to stitch the boy up except blood, well closing her eyes she says a little prayer i would just stitch him up my tomorrow morning would take him to the hospital for transfusion but sadly admitting the truth that's if only he would make it. Pouring alcohol on the wounds, giving him some painkillers putting some neatly wrapped clothes in his mouth for him to bite on, a pail of water nearby with soaked towels inside with which she put at interval on the boy's head or use to wipe his body, she began stitching him up. It took a while before she had finished, looking at the clock it was 2nd of october- 2am. Having removed his old clothing she painstakingly clothes him with one of her old night gowns, lifting him up she takes him into the room looking down at his face it was so peaceful, laying down beside him totally exhausted she falls asleep.
She(fairy) had seen the care the woman had shown the boy, she had watched the operation though the woman hadn't noticed her. She wasn't sure of falling asleep tonight, she could still hear the moans as the alcohol and red hot needles touched and pierced his body, the woman had made sure that there did be no infections afterward. Lifting the blanket she covers us, laying down on his chest, his temperature was still high, closing her eyes in fear of the dark listening to his steady heartbeat she soon falls asleep, blooming like a flower in a magic garden.
